Caesars Foundation and International Nonprofit Create Valentine’s Day Memories for 200 Elders

Monday, February 16—During the entire month of February, the Caesars Foundation, Caesars Entertainment’s HERO volunteers and Second Wind Dreams® (SWD®) joined to make Valentine’s Day special for nearly 200 elders in the Las Vegas, Atlantic City and New Orleans regions.

Dozens of volunteers spread the love through numerous activities including Valentine auctions, greeting-card and Valentine treats/gifts deliveries. Holiday festivities in Atlantic City were made complete with a surprise visit from Cupid.

Each year HERO volunteers remember elders’ reactions to their gifts. “Their faces brighten and shine when they are given cards and when they receive a visit from a cheerful volunteer,” said Robin Matos, HERO and Wildlife Curator at Flamingo Las Vegas.

“The Valentine’s cards bring back school memories from when I was a boy,” said Matt King, a recipient in Las Vegas.

Second Wind Dreams® is the proud recipient of continued support from Caesars Foundation and Caesars Entertainment HERO volunteers. Since 2008, the combined support has helped fulfill more than 2000 dreams for those living in elder care communities. To date, Caesars Foundation has contributed $1.1 million to Second Wind Dreams.

Second Wind Dreams is an international, nonprofit organization founded in 1997.
