Second Wind Dreams Announces First-Ever National Second Wind Dreams Day

Eldercare Communities Across Country to Welcome Public and

Honor Elders on New Day Celebrating Aging, Saturday, September 7, 2013

ATLANTA (August 12, 2013) – People from all walks of life will soon celebrate the journey of aging and honor those who prove every day that AGING ROCKS! when they visit an eldercare community on the first-ever National Second Wind Dreams Day.

Scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2013, the new national day to honor elders was created by Second Wind Dreams, the international nonprofit changing the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams.

“National Second Wind Dreams Day is about celebrating our future. It’s about honoring the people who built our cities, laid our roads and shaped our country.” said P.K. Beville, M.S., founder of Second Wind Dreams.  “It’s about giving people an opportunity to visit and celebrate with the people who have led the way for us all.”

From New Jersey to California, visitors to Second Wind Dreams-member eldercare communities (ECCs) involved in the day will be joining in the festivities and playing games, bringing flowers, sharing their skills and hobbies, and bringing pets for a visit. More than 137 dreams will be fulfilled at participating ECCs on the day.

Participating ECCs have a variety of activities planned ranging from Royal Suites Healthcare of Galloway, New Jersey presenting a high tea featuring a professional violinist and specialty desserts to Elmcroft Senior Living of Albuquerque, New Mexico honoring elders for the jobs they have had throughout their lives to Horizon Healthcare Center in Las Vegas, Nevada celebrating with an intergenerational Bingo event. In Atlanta, residents from ECCs will gather at a park for a festival with music and games.
