ATLANTA, Ga. (March 18, 2013) – Seeking to help people understand the power of making dreams come true for elders and connect consumers with its Virtual Dementia Tour® sensitivity training program, Second Wind Dreams®, the international nonprofit changing the perception of aging, has launched a new and interactive website at www.SecondWind.org.
Founded in 1997 by award-winning geriatric specialist P.K. Beville, M.S., the Atlanta-based Second Wind Dreams® is recognized as the first organization in the nation to focus on enhancing the quality of life for elders and changing society’s perception of seniors by making dreams come true. Through its dreams program, the organization is helping more people realize that everyone no matter what their age has unrealized hopes and aspirations.
Through www.SecondWind.org, members of the nonprofit – along with volunteers and supporters who play an active role in making dreams come true – will be able to share stories about the dreams they have facilitated and help others learn how they can become involved. The site also includes a ZIP code search function so visitors can find an elder care community (ECC) near them that is a member of Second Wind Dreams®.
The online home of the Virtual Dementia Tour®, a scientifically proven method of building a greater understanding of dementia through the use of sensory tools and instruction, www.SecondWind.org/VDT now has pages dedicated to the different versions of the VDT® and how to find a certified trainer. More than 500,000 people in 14 countries have experienced the VDT®, which is available in five languages.
“People from around the world are seeking out information about Second Wind Dreams® and we’re excited to share with them a newer version of our online home,” said P.K. Beville, M.S., founder and CEO of Second Wind Dreams®. “This new site will help consumers find the growing number of providers who have made a commitment to improving the lives of elders by becoming Second Wind Dreams® members. Plus, it will help those who want to better understand the challenges facing those with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia by connecting them with opportunities to experience the Virtual Dementia Tour®.”
