Aunt Bell was born August 14, 1926 in Umatilla Florida. Her family moved to Georgia when she was 6 years old. She went to school in Temple Ga
Her first job was teaching kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade as well for about 5 years.
After teaching, she started working for the Atlanta Journal constitution, and worked there for most of the rest of her career.
While working at the newspaper she met and married her husband at the age of 30, and they were married for 12 years before he passed away.
Aunt Bell loved talking about the times she and her husband traveled after retirement. They went to Maine and took the Blue Nose Fairy across to Canada and Nova Scotia.
On a cruise to the Caribbean with some friends, the ships kitchen caught fire and everybody was evacuated to an uninhabited island until coast guard rescued them. We’re not sure, but we think the ship was named USS Minnow and the first mate was named Gilligan.
To this day she still receives the Atlanta Journal, and she reads it from front to back.
Aunt Bell's lifelong dream was to ride in a parade. Our team was thrilled to make her dream come true!
