On Tuesday, March 21st, Pruitt Health Magnolia Manor fulfilled the dream of a lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan.
Mr. Garrett Plair is an intelligent 36-year-old man with an outgoing personality and an intense love for UGA football. Garrett, his preferred name, has suffered from medical conditions since a young age. None of this however, has stopped him from being a sports fanatic. Garrett has been able to attended several UGA games with his friends, but always wanted to get a more up-close, personal view.
On March 17th, Pruitt Health Magnolia Manor presented Garrett with a Georgia Bulldogs book bag, pants, jersey, and announced that we would be taking him to the UGA campus in Athens on the 21st. Garrett was overwhelmed with joy and later said that the surprise rendered him "speechless".
The day of the trip Garrett was beaming with excitement. When we arrived at the campus we were greeted by Bryant Gantt, a former UGA player, and several other staff members. Mr. Gantt guided us through a room full of trophies and achievements from the past and present. We toured areas including the gym, the player's meeting room, the new indoor training facility, and they even took us "between the hedges" to the Bulldog's stadium. During the tour, we had the privilege of meeting several players including Mecole Hardyman and Greg Pyke. Garret couldn't believe that he actually got to meet some of the players, but his excitement only grew when he was greeted by UGA's head coach, Kirby Smart.
After the tour ended, we drove Garrett to a local souvenir shop and purchased a few of his favorite Bulldog items. Our final stop was Garrett's choice for supper, Outback Steakhouse, where he enjoyed every bite of his 12oz steak!
Garrett and his mother, Mrs. Carolyn, want everyone to know how grateful they are for this awesome experience! Mrs. Carolyn stated that the past 25 years have been very hard, but they are finally in their "happy place" at Pruitt Health Magnolia Manor.
