Mrs. Shearlie Thomas has been a resident at Pruitt Health Palmyra since February 4, 2016. After learning Mrs. Thomas and her husband had not had a date during their 17 years of marriage, the Committed to Caring Committee decided that a Date Night for Mr. and Mrs. Thomas would be the perfect Second Wing Dream project for our nursing home.
Mr. Thomas was over joyed when he was asked if he would like to treat his wife, Mrs. Shearlie Thomas to a romantic date night. Mr. Thomas was concerned that he would not be able to afford such an elaborate night for his wife. He was overcome with emotions when he was told the cost of this special night would only cost him his time.
The invitation was delivered on a silver tray with delicate flowers to Mrs. Thomas the week prior to the event. She was so overjoyed when she read the invitations as tears rolled down her cheeks!
The evening began at 5:15 p.m. when the limousine arrived at the facility. Mr. Thomas, dressed in his Sunday best with a beautiful bouquet of flowers in hand, stood by in the lobby area awaiting his wife to make her appearance. When Ms. Thomas arrive at the nursing home in a white, stretch Escalade limo, the look on his face was priceless when he caught a glimpse of his beautiful wife being escorted out of the nursing home on the red carpet all dressed up in red…..hat and all!
Mr. Thomas proudly escorted his wife to the limousine that awaited to take them to their destination…..a reservation at Neumann’s one of Albany’s finest restaurants. While traveling to the restaurant, the couple listened to their favorite music.
When the couple arrived at the restaurant, a special area had been reserved and decorated for their special evening. They both enjoyed their favorite meal that was topped off with a special dessert.
When they returned to the nursing home, Mr. Thomas gave his wife a gentle kiss on her cheek. There is no doubt….the couple had the night of their lives!
