On March 24th, 2016, PruittHealth Hospice Augusta made Mr. Jesse Hatcher’s Second Wind Dream come true. All he longed to do was sing one last time in front of a church crowd. Mr. Hatcher grew up singing in church and with a quartet throughout the southeast; but as his group had gotten older and some grew ill, Mr. Hatcher never thought this dream would come true.
With the help of our team and his family, we were able to make that dream a reality one last time.
Mr. Hatcher is an 82 year old male on service with us battling Parkinson’s disease. His ability to be up and about for long periods of time has diminished over time, but this was one night he wanted to make it work. He and his family made the trip to Thankful Baptist Church, in Blythe, GA to be part of the Easter week services at this church, where they allowed him to lead singing of his favorite song, “You Got to Move,” a spiritual gospel song he was raised on. This was an amazing evening of worship and song that we captured by DVD.
With the evening kicking off with PruittHealth Hospice Augusta being introduced, our videographer captured this special dream come true via DVD of Mr. Hatcher. Mr. Hatcher did a wonderful rendition of the song mentioned above; it was all captured with not only with his family but his Pruitt family as well. Although it was only one song, the whole night you could see him singing to all the other songs until he had to leave, close to the end.
