Julia has donated over 165 hand crocheted afghans since her grandson died in Iraq in 2004. She has now started collecting white goods for our soldiers overseas. The items will be placed in Christmas stockings and shipped to them. On November 13, 2013 as a surprise, Julia will be honored for her volunteer service at a Lebanon Country Club luncheon. When I invited her to lunch she replied, “I have nothing to wear, I use my extra money for yarn for the afghans I make.” I would love to see Julia feel wonderful when she is honored and be wearing a new pretty dress or suit. She surely deserves to feel special for all she has done to honor our servicemen.
