Esther, from Las Ventanas in Las Vegas, was born in England. She grew up during the war and lost both her parents at a young age. She still becomes tearful when recalling these memories. At age 21, she came to America and became a U.S. citizen with her husband. This was her favorite and most cherished time in her life. Esther lived in NY for about 1 year and then moved to Texas. She also spent some time in Colorado and, of course, Nevada. Esther is very proud to be an American and is extremely thankful. She was honored during a surprise celebration at Las Ventanas. One of our wonderful volunteers made a homemade kugel in honor of Esther's Jewish heritage. Esther was so touched by the kindness of all. Bagels and beverages were provided by Las Ventanas. Other residents joined Esther for this special occasion. She shared stories of her past and English recipes. What a sweet and caring lady!
