You might wonder what Rene Fontaine, an 81-year old nursing home resident and Steve Seide, an experienced runner of the Boston Marathon have in common. The answer is that each has faced their own "Heart Break Hill" more than once. For Seide an 11 time runner of the Boston Marathon, the challenge is quite different. While in Fontaine's case, the challenge of overcoming the effects of two devastating strokes and regaining the ability to walk and talk again was also a grueling and hard-fought battle. The qualities that they share were aptly described by Seide on Thursday, April 28th as he presented Fontaine with momentoes from this year's race, including an official Boston Marathon jacket, shirt, pin, program and metal.
