Rhea was getting ready to turn 100 years old. This meant a lot to Rhea, and Kathy from the SWD team started helping her plan her party. The anticipation was so exciting for Rhea and she was talking about it and inviting people, and really enjoyed being part of the planning process. She was afraid that not many people would come, but there were over 100 people there to wish her a happy birthday! Family from out of town, friends, and Laurel Lake staff and residents came to celebrate with her. They had the party in our large Community Room. Her daughter had put together a slide show of pictures over Rhea's lifetime to run on a screen during the party. Her daughter also talked to the group with the microphone about her mother, sharing stories of her life. The SWD team ordered 2 delicious sheet cakes, a corsage for her to wear, a beautiful bouquet of flowers for her, and also put together posters of fun trivia from 100 years ago for people to read. So many people came up to greet her and hug her and wish her all the best. The photo included here shows her enjoying the party with her great-granddaughter. Rhea had an amazing time at the party and is still smiling whenever her 100th party comes up in conversation!
