When Shirley arrived at Ridgeview she had the clothes on her back and that was it. She did not have any family to help care for her. She had been in the hospital and needed help rehabbing. Though Shirley is still in need of help she is very agile and spry. She lights up a room when she walks in. The nurses brought it to the attention of Second Wind Dreams® that Shirley needed some clothes and underthings and shoes. So, Shirley’s dream was born.
Towards the end of May the staff of Ridgeview, along with Second Wind Dreams® surprised Shirley with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, some balloons, and a gift certificate to Wal-Mart. Shirley was so excited it brought tears to her eyes. A few weeks later Shirley was ready to go shopping. She loaded up in the company van with Sarah Christen Ivey and Rachel Thompson. They shopped ‘til they could have dropped! Shirley took her time looking through the clothes. She carefully picked out what she wanted. She even picked out a few fun items. After shopping, all the ladies were ready to eat. They let Shirley pick what she wanted. Shirley said she was craving pizza. So Rachel and Sarah Christen took Shirley to Johnny Brusco’s. The food was delicious and the conversation was uplifting.
