Flossie was "Born to be Wild", and just one month shy of her 100th birthday, she acted wild.  Ready for her first ever motorcycle ride, in a pink leather jacket.  She rode first in a sidecar but wasn't satisfied with that.  She wanted to be on the motorcycle with the engine running.  The smile says it all.

     
86-year-old Virginia from West Virginia had always dreamed of conducting a Symphony Orchestra.  She had played in one in her younger years.  The Wheeling, WV Symphony was delighted to make this dream come true. 
     
 

Ruth was on a bowling league her whole life and missed getting out to the lanes.  She and 3 of her friends from her assisted living went head to head with the pins.  There were even a few strikes.  She still had great style.
Tiny Evelyn, from Joliett, IL had always wanted to ride a camel.  The police department raised the money to have Einstein the Camel take her for a ride.  When asked if this was the best thing that had ever happened to her, she replied that "it has to be, nothing else has ever happened." 
     

Dreams to relive past experiences are so important.  This Tennessee resident had been a painter and even though wheelchair bound this Community Eldercare Living Center made sure that he had his old job back.  He was given a sense of purpose again.
Sandra had ridden Harleys in her younger days and has always wanted a tattoo.  Her dreams came true with 25 Harley riders and a temporary tattoo of a Panther.  When she got on the Harley, she was told "Don't forget to hold on", Sandra replied, "I haven't had my arms around a man for so long, there's no way I'm going to let go. I may not come back." Stone Mountain Harley in Georgia fell in love with Sandra and will take her to their next meeting to meet everyone else.
     

Catherine, 99 at Lutheran Towers (GA) was an elder in the United Methodist Church and taught and mentored many young men and women.  Her regret turned into her dream, She wished she had graduated from Emory University.  She was one of the first four women attending Emory in 1927 in a certificate class.   She is the newest member of the class of 1928.

 

Hazel is 101 years old!  She spent 70 years of her life volunteering and involved with music.  Her Dream, to hear a choir again, since it had been 10 years.  The Shorter College (GA) Chorale, where Hazel attended came to Beverly Healthcare Northside to sing, because Hazel also wanted to friends there to be able to enjoy it as well.


John was so excited as we bundled him up on a crisp fall day for a dream ride in a red convertible.  He got a grand tour of downtown Atlanta, Historic Decatur and the speed of the freeway.  When asked what his favorite part was, he said "they were all great and I'm ready to go again."
Fred, an Atlanta nursing home resident, still wanted to keep up with the times. He had to leave his computer at home so dreamed of having another one to play games and more importantly to have email.
 
Kay, 92 had attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1920 for two years and had never gotten to graduate, UNTIL Second Wind Dreams contacted the Alumni Association and they made her honorary alumni.  We had the cap and gown, pomp and circumstance and she even found another UW grad who lived in her same nursing home.  What a day.
 
   
This resident in India dreamed of having his own voice recorded as he sang songs that he had written over the years.  He was thrilled to be able to give them to his family and to listen to them in his room.  The recording concert was enjoyed by all of the residents.
Dreams as important and simple as a picnic outside with the others who live with her in a special care unit.  The smiles and fresh air are priceless for this resident.
     
 
Abe is a Cantor. Even though he lived in a nursing home, he longed to talk with someone in Hebrew and discuss the history and religion of his lifetime.  Cantor Goodfriend spent the afternoon with Abe and you could tell you were on hallowed ground.
Anna, from Senior Services North Fulton in Metro Atlanta, proudly displays her art that she donated to the Senior Art Auction, an annual fund raiser in conjunction with "Celebration of Dreams".
Fred's smile doesn't get much wider than when the Hooters Girls surprised him with a t-shirt and wings for all of his friends.  
Gracie, a resident of EdenBrook Assisted Living in Alpharetta, Georgia and 100 years young, remembers horse and buggy days. She and her daughter, Vadine, rode in a "Buggy of Dreams" at the Frist Annual Celebration of Dreams. Gracie loved trotting down memory lane.
William changed the perception of aging for 200 people at the Rum Boogie Cafe by showing what an 88-year-old can do. He had a beer and entertained the crowd by singing with the jazz band. Everyone was on their feet cheering at the end of his performance.
     
From Penacook Place in MA, this was a dream date.  They had met in the nursing home and for Valentine's Day they had their first date out complete with limo, roses and a barber shop quartet serenade.
