for Donors and Nursing Home Applicants
We value the support that the public provides for the mission of Second Wind Dreams® by visiting our organization's website, giving what they are able, and telling others about it. So that we may better assist you, you may be asked to list your name, address, and other information if you wish to participate in Second Wind Dreams®. Our policy with regards to your personal information is listed below.
Information we collect about our Donor and Nursing Home Applicants
Second Wind Dreams® asks persons who wish to interact with the Second Wind Dreams® website to register with the organization. During the voluntary registration process, persons are required to provide their names, physical addresses, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers.
Second Wind Dreams® collects and stores this information for the sole purposes of a) contacting those people whom the organization believes it can assist; b) controlling against fraudulent activity, both against registered users of the Second Wind Dreams® website and against the organization itself; and c) communicating with both our donors and our nursing home applicants, as necessary and appropriate, unless an individual has specifically requested that he or she receive no correspondence from the organization.
Second Wind Dreams® does not use other software or hardware techniques to collect other information that could be used to personally identify visitors to Second Wind Dreams® without their knowledge.
Protecting Your Personal Information
Second Wind Dreams® has a strict policy of protecting your personal information.
Second Wind Dreams® will take all reasonable steps to protect its users' personal information and to protect them from unwanted correspondence/solicitation made as a result of a visit to or decision to register with Second Wind Dreams®. Our website and database are secured with state-of-the-art digital certificates and can be accessed only from certain authorized computers physically located in our office. For this reason, any personal data that you submit to Second Wind Dreams® is maintained as securely as current technology will allow. However, it is important to remember that, by their very nature, transmissions made via the Internet can never be absolutely secure.
With regard to our donors, Second Wind Dreams® will not sell, rent, share or disclose personally identifiable information regarding our donors to any commercial entities, marketing firms or non-profit entities.
With regard to our nursing home applicants, will not sell, rent, share or disclose personally identifiable information regarding E-Dream requests to any commercial entities, marketing firms or non-profit entities except when it is necessary to share such information in order to fund a request for assistance and then, only with the explicit, written consent of the parties involved.
Publicly Sharing Your Comments
Second Wind Dreams® receives hundreds of E-Dream funding requests every month, along with many letters asking general questions, commenting on Second Wind Dreams®, or with information from persons who have received assistance from the organization. The details of these requests, for help and other comments and questions may be shared freely among Second Wind Dreams®’ staff as necessary and appropriate.
In addition, Second Wind Dreams® makes it possible for nursing homes who request help from the organization to make the details of their request (exclusive of their personally identifiable information) available to other registered users of Second Wind Dreams®. Second Wind Dreams® likewise makes it possible for nursing homes who have received help from Second Wind Dreams® to post a short note to Second Wind Dreams®’ testimonials page.
However, the choice to make the details of an application for help public or to post a testimonial is made on an individual basis by our applicants themselves. Second Wind Dreams® will not post or permit the posting of information in any way that specifically identifies the sender(s) of that information under any circumstances.

Disclosure of your Personal Information to Other Entities
Please note that as a matter of policy, Second Wind Dreams® does not, under any circumstances, share, rent, sell, or otherwise disclose personal information related to the identies of our donors or our applicants with entities - commercial or non-profit - outside of the organization, except as noted above.
If you wish for your information never to be shared with any entity, you may elect this option during the registration process by selecting the 'Give Anonymously' option. Information related to persons who have elected this option will never be shared by Second Wind Dreams®’ under any circumstances.
Policy Revisions
Second Wind Dreams® reserves the right to amend this privacy policy from time to time. If we make any substantial changes in the way we use your personally identifiable information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our pages and we will provide you with an opportunity to request that such information not be used in that manner. Personally identifiable information will be subject to the protections of the privacy policy in place at the time the information is obtained.
Terms of Use
Second Wind Dreams®’ (http://www.secondwind.org) operates its E-Dreams program primarily online but is physically based in Marietta, Georgia, a surburb of metropolitan Atlanta. Second Wind Dreams®’ is a not-for-profit, charitable organization, exempt from federal income tax in the United States under section 501(c)(3) of the United States Tax Code.
Use of Second Wind Dreams®’ resources, including (but not limited to) the Second Wind Dreams®’ website (hereafter 'the site') is subject to the following terms and conditions. By registering with or otherwise interacting with Second Wind Dreams®’ or its website, you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions.
Purpose of Organization
Second Wind Dreams® fullfill dreams for our elders living primarily in elder care facilities and offers financial assistance for E-Dream fulfillment to eligible nursing homes that apply by a) duly registering with Second Wind Dreams® and b) requesting such assistance in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth on the Second Wind Dreams®’ website itself. Second Wind Dreams® encourages personal philanthropy and provides various types of educational information about changing the perception of aging to those visiting the Second Wind Dream website.
Registration with Second Wind Dreams®
While all persons with access to the Internet may browse the Second Wind Dreams® website, persons and nursing homes who wish to interact with the Second Wind Dreams® website are required to register with Second Wind Dreams®. Registrants are asked to provide their names, physical address, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers. Nursing homes will be asked to provide licensing documentation and personal identification information on all those listed as representatives of the nursing home. This information is collected solely for the purposes of a) contacting those people whom we believe Second Wind Dreams® can assist; b) controlling against fraudulent activity, both against registered users of Second Wind Dreams® and against the organization itself; and c) comunicating with both our donors and our applicants, as necessary and appropriate, unless an individual has specifically requested that he or she receive no correspondence from the organization.
Only one registration per nursing home physical mailing address is allowed. To protect against the potential for fraud, the Second Wind Dreams®’ software and website is programmed such that it will not permit multiple user accounts to be created by multiple persons representing the same nursing home. Should our software detect a potential duplicate during the registration process, the system will halt and prompt the user to contact technical support for assistance.
Registration with Second Wind Dreams® is completely free of charge, and registrants will not ever be asked to pay any fee, in kind or otherwise, in exchange for registration with Second Wind Dreams® or use of Second Wind Dreams®’ resources, financial or otherwise.
Eligibility for the Receipt of E-Dream Financial Assistance
Nursing Homes that are duly registered users of the Second Wind Dreams® website are eligible to receive financial assistance from Second Wind Dreams® to assist in the fulfillment of dreams. In addition, other persons who are unable to register with Second Wind Dreams® may be deemed eligible to receive dream fullfillment assistance from Second Wind Dreams®. Any such determination shall be made at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams®.
Second Wind Dreams® does not request or collect information with respect to the gender, or ethnic background of registrants and does not discriminate with respect to any person's age, ethnic background, gender, religion, or sexual preference in the fullfilling of a dream.
Funding of Dreams
Second Wind Dreams® funds E-Dreams on a regular basis to eligible nursing homes who have requested financial or other assistance from Second Wind Dreams®. Such funding is made at such times as the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® see fit and at the sole discretion of the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams®. The amounts are subject to available funding and likewise at the sole discretion of the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams®.
The Executive Director and Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® do not imply, guarantee or otherwise warrant that Second Wind Dreams® will be able to assist every eligible nursing home that requests financial assistance from Second Wind Dreams®. Likewise, the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® reserve the right to reject requests for financial assistance that are not submitted in accordance with the guidelines of Second Wind Dreams® or that, in the judgment of the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams®, is in any way fraudulent or misleading. Further, the Executive Direcor and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® reserve the right to withdraw any offer made by Second Wind Dreams®’ to provide financial assistance to any otherwise eligible nursing home at any time and for any reason.
Termination of Registration
The Executive Director and/or Board of Directors hold the use of Second Wind Dreams® resources to be a privilege rather than a right. The Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® reserve the right to terminate said privileges of any duly registered user at any time and for any reason including (but not limited to):
- the provision of false or misleading information on the part of any site user during the registration process;
- the provision of false or misleading information in any part of a request for financial assistance fromSecond Wind Dreams®; and,
- the use of site resources for any purpose advertising a product or online resource or otherwise soliciting the business of other visitors to the Second Wind Dreams® website.
Use of Financial Gifts to Second Wind Dreams®
Second Wind Dreams® encourages personal giving and is happy to accept any gift of any amount to Second Wind Dreams®. Any gifts made to Second Wind Dreams®, financial, in-kind or otherwise, are greatly appreciated and shall be used by the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® and in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Internal Revenue Service and the State of Georgia exclusively for the following purposes:
- to provide financial assistance to nursing homes who have requested E-Dream funding from Second Wind Dreams®; and,
- to remit payment for any such reasonable expenses related to the operation of Second Wind Dreams® as the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® deem appropriate, and at their sole discretion.
The Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® will make all reasonable efforts to honor the requests of donors to Second Wind Dreams® with respect to the use of their donations, subject to the guidelines of the Internal Revenue Service and the state of Georgia. However, neither the Executive Director nor the Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® absolutely guarantees that they will be able to honor said requests.
Relationship of Giving to the Dream Funding Process
Second Wind Dreams® encourages and makes it possible for all interested persons who visit Second Wind Dreams® website or who otherwise learn of Second Wind Dreams® to give to Second Wind Dreams®, including those nursing homes who request assistance from Second Wind Dreams®.
Giving and receiving at Second Wind Dreams® are related only in as much as the organization is able to fund more (and occasionally larger) dreams as gifts to Second Wind Dreams® increase. However, the fact that an applicant for E-Dream funding from Second Wind Dreams® has made a gift, financial, in-kind, or otherwise to Second Wind Dreams® does not entitle said applicant to any kind of special consideration in the dream funding process and does not guarantee that the applicant will receive any kind of assistance from Second Wind Dreams®. Persons inclined to give to Second Wind Dreams® only because they believe that, in so doing, they will better their chances of receiving E-Dream funding from Second Wind Dreams® should not give to Second Wind Dreams®.
Correspondence with Second Wind Dreams®
Second Wind Dreams® receives a large number of letters, telephone calls, e-mail, and other types of correspondence. The Executive Director and his duly appointed representatives attempt to respond to all such correspondence as appropriate but cannot guarantee that they will be able to answer all such correspondence sent to Second Wind Dreams®.
All correspondence sent to Second Wind Dreams® or any of its representatives by mail, fax, e-mail, electronic transmission or by any other means becomes immediately and irrevocably the sole property of Second Wind Dreams® and may be used for any purpose related to Second Wind Dreams® at the sole discretion of the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors of Second Wind Dreams® without further notice or compensation.
Reproduction of Second Wind Dreams®’ Materials
The content of the Second Wind Dreams® website, as well as all correspondence, electronic or otherwise, from the Executive Director, Board of Directors, or any of their duly appointed representatives on behalf of Second Wind Dreams® is copyright Second Wind Dreams®, and all rights are reserved. No part of the website or the aforementioned correspondence from the Executive Director, Board of Directors, or any of their duly appointed representatives shall be reproduced in any medium, in whole or in part, without the express written consent of the Executive Director of Second Wind Dreams®.
Limitation of Liability
The use of any Internet resource involves certain inherent risks. Though the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and duly appointed representatives of Second Wind Dreams® will take every reasonable step to safeguard the information of the persons who visit or otherwise interact with the Second Wind Dreams® website, duly registered users of and other visitors to the Second Wind Dreams® website agree to absolve and otherwise hold blameless the Executive Director, the members of the Second Wind Dreams® Board of Directors, and all of their duly appointed representatives from any liability arising from the use of the Second Wind Dreams® website or any of its resources, subject to the limitations set forth in public charter of Second Wind Dreams®.
