10:15 Keynote Speaker: PK Beville. MS., Dementia Specialist Certified and Elder Care Mediator, CEO Second Wind Dreams®, Author, Inventor of the Virtual Dementia Tour®.
Can Empathy Be Taught? PK will discuss the dynamics of simulation learning and resulting impact on the care of people living with dementia. In addition, she will talk about how intangible feelings like compassion and sensitivity can be turned into competency assessment which ensures competent dementia care is provided.

11:30 Paul Birley - Head of Public Sector and Healthcare, Barclays.
It's all about the detail.
Paul will discuss a high-level state of the care market review, followed some examples of where care home operators have looked at parts of their service in detail. Paul will also share why and how Barclays will be collaborating with the Virtual Dementia Tour.

The press will be attending the launch of the new mobile unit. Event delegates will have the opportunity to look at the ‘Dementia Inclusive’ Mobile simulators.

At Healthwatch Essex the focus is on using people’s lived experiences to help improve local health and care services. Dr David Sollis will introduce Healthwatch Essex’ most recent work around Dementia and how it is being used. This will be followed by David Lawton, who works closely with Healthwatch Essex, who will talk about his lived experience of dementia in his own style!
14:15 April Dobson – Head of Dementia and Innovation at Older people’s housing and care charity, Abbeyfield.
April will speak about the positive impact that the Virtual Dementia Tour® has had on Abbeyfield Society and how it has enhanced existing Dementia training and practice within the organisation.
