Take the Virtual Dementia Tour on the Road
"Mobile units have changed the way we work and proven to be very very popular... We now have 5 since launching our first simulator just 2 years ago. So important!!" - Glenn Knight (UK)
Mobile Virtual Dementia Tour vehicles have been providing the VDT for the past 5 years and changing lives at every turn. The Mobile VDT allows the training to occur in areas where there is no space to conduct the tour. The general public is more easily involved in the tour when they can see the vehicle away from a health care facility. Since most care for those with dementia is provided in the community setting, it makes sense to bring the tour to the people.
Many parts of the world are involved in the creation of dementia friendly communities and the Mobile VDT is being used to increase understanding about the needs of people living with dementia. This allows city planners and businesses to develop action plans that will help keep people with dementia in the community longer.
Currently, the MVDT is in England, Scotland, Ireland and several states in the US.
A Mobile Virtual Dementia Tour is licensed through SWD. Once licensed, VDT clinical staff assists in the best build out of the interior of the Mobile unit. The providers associated with the Mobile VDT will be a part of a two day training to ensure compliance with the tenets of the VDT.
